The Dash 8 family of aircraft have a long and successful history of Australian regional operations and today there are many of these aircraft being used in charter and scheduled operations. The latest version, the 70 seat Q400 was developed to meet the requirements for larger aircraft on high-density, short-haul routes. The aircraft's speed and 2,519km range provide airlines with the capability to service markets beyond conventional turboprop aircraft distances. The Q400 model is capable of operating Sydney - Cairns non stop.
